Jessica Hazeltine, serving as administrative manager for the Recovery Center of Medina County (RCMC) welcomed Medina Sunrise Rotary Club president Roger Hassler and his fellow Rotarians to Medina's newly opened SERENITÉ RESTAURANT, which features fine French cuisine served in a relaxed hometown ambiance. "This community-based recovery and occupational culinary training center are the culmination of years of deeply rooted compassion, acts of selfless service, the vision of our CEO Brandon Edwin Chrostowski, and the leadership and generosity found within Medina County," said Jessica gratefully.
Brandon Edwin Chrostowski, our CEO, is on a mission to change the face of re-entry in the United States. In 2007, he founded EDWINS Leadership & Restaurant Institute, with the belief that every human, being regardless of their past with substance abuse or mental health issues, has the right to a fair and equal future. Under Chrostowski’s leadership, EDWINS has grown to include culinary education and life skills training at its flagship Cleveland, Ohio restaurant and Second Chance Life Skills Center, a program at Grafton Correctional Institute, and curriculum for inmates of all 30 Ohio prisons. A trained chef and sommelier, Chrostowski has worked at some of the finest restaurants in Paris, New York, and Chicago, including Lucas Carton, Chanterelle, Picholine, Le Cirque and Charlie Trotter’s. He earned dozens of awards including CNN Heroes, Crain’s 40 under 40 and The Richard C. Cornuelle Award from the Manhattan Institute for Social Entrepreneurship and is the subject of the Academy nominated documentary Knife Skills.
Together with CEO Brandon, Peer Supporter Susan Wentz, GM Michael Flaherty, and myself, all of us at RCMC believe that home, health, community and purpose can be applied to living a strong, meaningful life.
SERENITÉ RESTAURANT and Culinary Institute in Medina opened this spring for fine dining, Monday through Saturday, from 5-9 pm. Please call us for special times and look for our distinctive summer brunches. Working with RCMC, our programs are open to anyone in the recovering community.  Special Thanks to Medina County Judge Joyce Kimbler and Thank You Medina - MERCI!
