The Hon. John Reyes, Rotary 6630 District Governor, received a warm welcome on his official visit to the Medina Sunrise Rotary Club from Assistant Governor Kevin Wermer, President Dr. Shail Jain, and the Medina Sunrise Rotarians.
The Governor's visit began with Rotary Foundation Chair William Koran presenting Ed Jakubick a Paul Harris Fellow Award, "In appreciation of his tangible and significant assistance given to the furtherance of better understanding and friendly relations among peoples of the world." Ed became the 80th club member to receive this distinguished Rotary International Foundation recognition.
"'Rotary Connects the World' is our international theme for 2019-2020," announced District Governor John Reyes. "Rotary, which was founded in 1905, is the world's largest, oldest, nonpolitical, and nonreligious global service club. With our reach, our size, and our impact, 1.2 million Rotarians, working in over 170 countries, along with 470,000 young Rotaractors and Interactors, continue to be the inspiration."
Today, we reflect on the 75th Anniversary of the founding of the United Nations with Rotary as a signatory world service organization on the original UN Charter. Rotary has changed the world, one community at a time through its POLIO PLUS Program which has immunized over 2.5 billion children since the 1980's. And Rotary Peace Fellowships and sustainable environmental, health and educational projects are helping to lift people out of poverty and providing hope for a better future.
"How will Rotarians approach and plan for tomorrow?" questioned Governor Reyes. "Like rock climbers who are inspired to get to the top of the mountain, I encourage all Rotarians to look forward to the next challenge, build an exceptional team, trust one another, stretch to the next level, and have fun while doing good. This is Rotary. This is Rotary 'Connecting the Wold,' one community at a time!"
