Colonel David Taylor, American Legion Post #202 Commander, officiated the Medina Sunrise Rotary Veteran's Day Ceremony at Carlson's Funeral Home in Medina. Past Rotary District Governor Jack Young solemnly read the Veteran's Day Dedication beside the flagpole following the Pledge of Allegiance, Dr. Mike Carlson's invocation of "Service and Sacrifice", and TAPS played by David Harrison on solo trumpet:

Dating back to 1918, on the 11th hour of the 11th day, in the 11th month, this most reverent day -- commemorating the end of World War I -- was solemnly dedicated in perpetuity to honor the service and sacrifices of America's Veterans in all U.S. Wars.

This most honorable national holiday is now celebrated to encompass all veterans of wars, conflicts and active duty military service. In the United States, the armed services community is a tight family and the Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force, Coast Guard, National Guard, Reserves and Civil Air Patrol have played a vital role in shaping the destiny of our country as well as that of the entire world.

Today, Rotary pauses … to express its deep appreciation to Our Fellow Rotarians and all those who serve and who continue to serve in our nation's Armed Forces.

No greater love hath one than to lay down his life for another.- John 15:13
