April showers bring May flowers and sometimes, as in the case of The Children's Center of Medina County, a $10,000 check from the Medina Sunrise Rotary Club.

Anna Guy-Leach expressed her heartfelt appreciation to Medina Sunrise Rotary, her director Rhonda Wurgler, her capital campaign chair Jennifer Graham, her tireless staff and the Children's Center's community partners, including Pride One Construction and Westfield Bank.

"This is a home for healing," said Anna. The Children's Center provides a nurturing and safe environment for children who have been abused or neglected. It operates as a not-for-profit organization that relies on community donations and grants to provide needed services and programs for over 200 children each year since 2007.

We had outgrown our old facility on Highland Drive and are settling into the expanded 5,200 square feet at our new home on East Smith Road which had been the former Montessori School.

Among the amenities in the new facility are:

  • state-of-the-art medical exam room designed to address the specific needs of children who experience abuse;
  • state-of-the-art medical lab to ensure processing of collected laboratory samples;
  • neutral and soundproof forensic interview room that provides children a safe environment where they can tell their story;
  • family room, which will provide privacy and comfort for children and their families;
  • conference room, which will provide space for case reviews and training for professionals and community members.

All of us working or benefiting from the professional services of The Children's Center say thank you to Medina Sunrise Rotary, Pride One, Westfield Band, and thank you Medina!
