Jeff Hill, Highland High School graduate and supporter, and program chair of Medina Sunrise Rotary, introduced Dr. John Deuber, Athletic Director of the Highland High School Hornets, for a tour of the new North Gateway Tire Football Field and Highland High School Athletic Complex.
Dr. Deuber stated that Highland High School's athletic complex is the "crown jewel of sports in Medina County" and inc...ludes a football stadium featuring a turf field, eight-lane track, locker room facilities, multiple bathroom facilities, food vending facilities, a video scoreboard, and seating for 5,000 people. It also has an adjoining soccer field, tennis courts, and multiple parking lots. We actively schedule our facilities from 14 to 15 hours a day and are open for community use, OHSAA Football Invitationals, regional soccer tournaments and summer youth camps. We are deeply grateful for the generosity of private community donors such as the Hill Family of North Gateway Tire, the efforts of Joseph Kohmann, president of HAFA, and combined district funds which made this 8 million dollar dream a reality to so many students.
After a visit to the Highland Hornets Spiritwear Shop, Dr. Deuber thanked Medina Sunrise Rotary for visiting and invited everyone to join him this coming Saturday, June 3, for the "Hornet Dash" - the Highland Alumni Association's 5K Race (registration at 8:30 AM and race at 9:00 AM).
