"This most reverent day -- dating back to 1918, on the 11th hour of the 11th day, in the 11th month -- commemorating the end of World War I, was solemnly dedicated in perpetuity to honor the service and sacrifices of America's Veterans in all U.S. Wars," proclaimed Staff Sergeant Daniel Bamford. "This most honorable national holiday, which is celebrated as 'Remembrance Day' around the world,  encompasses all veterans of wars, conflicts and active duty military service. Here at home in the United States, our armed services community is a close family. And the Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force, Coast Guard, National Guard and Reserves continue to play a vital role in shaping the destiny of our country and promoting peace throughout the world."

On this Veterans Day, we at the Ohio National Guard Medina Armory, along with our families and friends in Medina, our schools, community partners, and Medina Sunrise Rotary, respectfully pause to express our heartfelt gratitude to all those who have served and who continue to serve in America's Armed Forces in the cause of Freedom.

"The history of The Guard dates back to 1636, when Citizen-Soldiers formed militias to defend their local communities. Now, 383 years later, the Guard has stayed loyal to the communities it serves and true to its mission.  For over three centuries the Guard has been the custodian of security and honor, now and forever... I am the Guard. And honoring our vision we are: "Always Ready, Always There!" -- Staff Sergeant Kevin Clark
