"Kyasira Home of Hope is a Ugandan orphanage located off the Entebbe Road between Kampala and Entebbe," said Paula Hosko Knizner, a Medina Sunrise Rotarian. It serves destitute street children with about 70 living there at present. All welfare, and most health and education in Uganda is provided by religious and faith groups on a charitable basis. Kyasira Home of Hope is run by 4 Religious Sisters from the Order of the Good Samaritan and volunteers like me, who open our hearts to care for the most needy.

As a past teacher with the Cleveland Municipal School District and current head of faculty for the Abu Dhabi Educational Council, I spend two months each year in Uganda teaching, mentoring and caring for these children who are a part of our large global family. Back home in Medina, I keep in daily communication with "my children", as I continue a labor of love to create local awareness, build global collaboration, and raise funding to support our important mission of serving children.

Kyasira is hard at work helping children in Uganda and recently committed to the construction of a kitchen and dining room alongside the orphanage dormitories. We are really happy to see the new school year begin with everything up and running. There are lots of smiling faces at the little school, and we wish the children a successful first term.  We can use your help to keep smiles on their faces.

You are invited to join Kyasira Home of Hope "Dinner-n-More" Children's Fundraiser on Saturday, November 3rd, 2018, from 6:00 to 9:00 pm at Fox Meadows Country Club in Medina, where you too can make a difference in the lives of children in our community and beyond, through your time, talents and treasures.
