MEDINA SUNRISE ROTARY CELEBRATES ITS 25TH ANNIVERSARY WITH ITS FOUNDING CLUB MEMBERS

Medina Sunrise Rotary Celebrated its 25th Anniversary at beautiful Allardale Park Lodge in the good company of its founding club members, District Governor John Reynes, and a 16 piece Big Band - Musical Memories, under the direction of Ron Vogelgesang.

Founding club president Becky Shotwell (1994) and current president Dr. Shail Jain (2019) brought to life the history of Medina Sunrise Rotary and its 25 years of active service in which, through dedicated volunteer work and fundraising, more than one and quarter million dollars has been donated to the community. "We are on course to donating another $70,000 this year," stated Dr. Mike Carlson. This is possible through the annual Wine & Roses fundraising dinner, our Rotary Foundation Dessert Auction, District and Rotary International Global Grants, and private donations.
Dr. Jain added that by working together as Rotarians, we have helped to build the Life Skills Lodge and Environmental Tree House at Medina Creative Housing, purchased a freezer and supported Feeding Medina County's Weekender Program and Free Food Distributions, built an outdoor storage shed and continue to support the mission of the Children's Center of Medina County. We support Empower Sports, Miracle League Baseball, Special Olympics, and SHC the Arc of Medina County locally.  In Uganda, we sponsor Sanyuka Children's Home and Kyasira Orphanage. We have provided school supplies and clothing to students in Nicaragua and Belize. In El Salvador, we funded a sustainable village water project and regularly fund ShelterBox to meet emergency relief needs anywhere in the world when disasters strike. We are proud of our partnership with Kiwanis International to eliminate neonatal tetanus and of our award winning Rotaract Club in Portoviejo, Ecuador, with whom we have built a school kitchen, bathroom and library. More recently, we completed community medical care station which is supplied by MedWish International.

Whether our service is local, such as with Shop with a Cop, Sea of Youth, Medina Library, MCRC, Reagan, Mugrage, Wolf Creek, and Medina Memorial Parks, and with Buckeye Boys & Girls State, Service Above Self college scholarships, Youth Leadership Awards, BSA, Youth Exchange, and our local military education and career counselors, or our club's amazing global outreach to five continents that is now collaborating to develop a health and literacy program in Patna, India, Medina Sunrise Rotary is always working to better our world, and staying committed to making a difference in the lives of children in our community and beyond through our time, talents, and treasure.
